al pastor pork tacos
Authentic Al Pastor tacos made easy right in your kitchen with ¡CHIDA! Awesome Comida cooking sauce.
INGREDIENTS:
For the Al Pastor Marinade:
2 lbs pork (shoulder or pork butt)
2 tbsp oil (recommended avocado oil)
10 oz Chida Awesome Comida cooking sauce
1 cup pineapple juice (optional, for sweetness)
1 cup of chopped onions
Salt and pepper to taste
For Serving:
Corn tortillas
Pineapple, grilled and sliced
Chopped onions
Chopped cilantro
Lime wedges
Salsa of your choice (red or green)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Step 1: Prepare and Cook the Pork
Cube the pork into small, bite-sized pieces 1-2”. This helps the meat absorb the marinade and cook evenly.
Heat oil in a large saucepan or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add meat and brown on all sides. Add onion, cook for about 3 minutes.
Add pineapple juice and Chida Awesome Comida Cooking Sauce. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 2-3 hours until meat is tender.
Remove lid and simmer over medium-high heat 15-30 minutes, or until sauce has reached desired thickness.
Step 2: Prepare the Tacos
Warm the Tortillas: While the pork is cooking, warm the corn tortillas on a separate skillet or directly on the grill for a few seconds on each side until they are pliable.
Assemble the Tacos: Place a generous amount of the cooked pork on each tortilla. Top with grilled pineapple slices, chopped onions, and cilantro.
Step 3: Serve
Garnish: Serve with lime wedges and your choice of salsa on the side.
