birria ramen

A delicious fusion of birria's rich flavors with the comfort of ramen!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 lb beef chuck roast or short ribs

  • 10 oz can of ¡Chida! Awesome Comida Cooking Sauce

  • 1 cup beef broth (or water)

  • 4 packs of ramen noodles (discard the seasoning)

  • 1 large onion (sliced)

  • Salt & pepper (to taste)

  • Fresh cilantro (chopped, for garnish)

  • Lime wedges (for serving)

  • Radishes, thinly sliced (optional garnish)

  • Mexican cheese like cotija (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1: Prepare the Beef

  • Sear the Meat: Season the beef with salt and pepper. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Once hot, add the beef and sear it on all sides until browned (about 4-5 minutes per side). Remove from the pot and set aside.

Step 2: Sauté Aromatics

  • Cook Onion: In the same pot, add the sliced onion. Cook over medium heat until they become soft and fragrant, about 3-5 minutes.

Step 3: Add ¡Chida! Sauce & Seasonings

  • Add ¡Chida! Sauce: Pour the 10oz can of ¡Chida! Awesome Comida Cooking Sauce into the pot with the onions and garlic. Stir well to combine.

Step 4: Slow Cook the Beef

  • Return Beef to Pot: Place the seared beef back into the pot with the sauce.

  • Add Liquid: Pour in 1 cup of beef broth or water, making sure the meat is mostly submerged.

  • Slow Cook: Cover the pot and let the beef simmer on low heat for 1.5-2 hours, or until the beef is tender and easily shreds. You can also do this in a slow cooker for 4-6 hours on low.

Step 5: Shred the Beef

  • Shred the Meat: Once the beef is tender, remove it from the pot and shred it using two forks. Set the shredded meat aside and discard any large chunks of fat. Remove the bay leaves from the sauce.

Step 6: Cook the Ramen

  • Cook Ramen Noodles: Boil a pot of water and cook the ramen noodles according to the package instructions. Discard the seasoning packets. Drain the noodles and set them aside.

Step 7: Assemble the Ramen Bowls

  • Assemble: Divide the cooked ramen noodles into bowls. Top each bowl with the shredded beef.

Step 8: Garnish & Serve

  • Garnish: Add fresh cilantro, thinly sliced radishes, a squeeze of lime juice, and optional cotija cheese on top.

  • Serve: Serve hot, with lime wedges on the side for extra zing!

    Enjoy your ramen!
